A major milestone was reached in our South Campus Transformation at Macclesfield on Saturday when the new Gate 1 Security Lodge was craned into position.
This new structure was fabricated off-site in 4 modules and assembled here on Campus. The largest module, the main glass-walled entrance section, weighed in at 10 tonnes – hence the need for a sizeable crane!
The architectural appearance of the new Lodge has been designed to tie in with the new People Hub facility that opened just up the road on the South Campus in mid-2024.
Work now begins to connect the new Lodge to site utilities (water, drainage, power & data-comms) and on the internal fit-out (installation of internal walls, wiring, data, HVAC, sanitaryware, kitchen, reception desk and other furniture).
The handover to our Security Team is planned for May/June this year with the new HGV Park across the road following shortly afterwards.
